  Our Wish List

Img15.pngThis past year, our community has embraced Our Mother's Home, and supplied us with many necessary things, as well as encouragement, and support. Our Mother's Home is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, with many on-going needs for the up-coming year and beyond.

Transitional Housing for 18-year olds (a duplex):  Funds needed to build a duplex for our teen moms that turn 18, so they have a place to live on their own. We have the property to build a 4-unit duplex adjacent to OMH, but we need funds. OMH has two teens that will be turning 18 this year and we want to be able to help them adjust to the community.

Furniture/Household Furnishings:  Kitchen – We are in need of a commercial refrigerator and some additional cabinets. Laundry – 2 commercial washers and dryers.  Bedrooms – we need sliding doors for the bedroom closets, a total of 4. We also need a new front door and screen door and the inside of the house requires a new coat of paint throughout.

Daily Commodities Funding:  Clothes - Teen, Baby, and Toddler;   Food - canned goods or frozen items, baby food, for current residents and transitional mothers;   Paper Products - Paper towels, toilet paper, paper plates, etc...;   Personal Items - diapers, baby wipes, hair products for moms and babies, body wash and lotions, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc...; Household Items - laundry and dishwasher soap, cleaning products for 8 teen moms and 8 babies from newborn to toddler, gas for the house vans (used for doctor/dentist appointments, independent living and other activities).

Office Space at Our Mothers HomeInsurance Premium Funds:  Insurance premiums have doubled in the industry this past year and OMH has to pay them too. Workmen's Comp alone is $2,000 a month not counting all the other insurance that is carried by the home. We need funds to offset this burden for OMH.

Landscaping:  We also need plants, trees and grass for bare places in lawn to keep the ant hills down and protective barriers installed in front of fire sprinkler pipes, etc...

Maintenance Work for OMH (either funding or volunteer help):  Plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and other maintenance-type projects around the home.

Music Program Funding:  We have a volunteer in place to work with all of our children in this area, but we are in need of small musical instruments, music/songbooks, and teachers for voice and instrument instruction.

Entertainment Funds:  For school activities, pictures, take-out food on Fridays, concerts, movies, special events, birthdays, holidays, day trips, etc...

To Build A Second Our Mother's Home and Transition Home:  An additional Mother's Home needs to be a facility very similar to the present one to house part of the avg. 30 teen moms that are on our waiting list. Land would need to be obtained and the same architect would be attainable to design it.
