Our Mother’s Home is being considered among nonprofits nationwide for the State Farm Neighborhood Assist® program. The program awards $25,000 grants to 40 nonprofit organizations to help fund neighborhood projects involved in education, safety and community development.

On Aug. 14th, State Farm will announce 200 finalists which will compete for the grants via online voting. If selected, the Fort Myers nonprofit agency will look to community support to help push it to the top of the list. Voting is open from Aug. 14 through Aug. 23 and anyone with a valid email address can vote 10 times per day. Votes can be cast at www.ourmothershome.com or www.neighborhoodassist.com.

“Neighborhood Assist is another example of how small acts can equal big impacts in communities all across the U.S.,” said Allison Bertsche, State Farm Public Affairs Director. “From identifying an important cause to rallying your community to vote for it, this program is all about neighbors helping neighbors.”

Our Mother’s Home is a residential program for teenage foster mothers and their babies to remain together. The mothers learn skills they need to be independent and self-sufficient, breaking the cycle of abuse, neglect and generational poverty. The agency has helped more than 300 mothers and children at a 90% success rate.

On Sept. 25th, the Top 40 winning nonprofits will be named at www.neighborhoodassist.com and a $25,000 grant will be awarded to each.
