I Chose Life. Beating the Odds of Teenage Pregnancy
May 13 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm$45
The teen pregnancy rate in the U.S. is substantially higher than in other developed countries, the numbers paint a dark future for those young adults. Only about 50% of teen moms receive a high school diploma. The impacts on economic and social well being for a teen mom can be devastating.
Daisy Torres-Pertuz beat the odds. She grew up in a small 2-bedroom home in North Miami and always dreamed of being an architect. Her dreams were seemingly dashed when she found out she was pregnant at 16. She was conflicted, scared and afraid of what the future would hold. It was a message from her parents that gave her the strength to choose life. Come and witness her story that takes us from a frightened teenager to a top level executive in a multi-billion dollar real estate development firm.
How did Daisy fulfill her dreams? How did she find the strength to soar in a male-dominated industry? Daisy has made it her mission to share her story to inspire others so they too can choose life.
Seating is limited, reserve yours today. 40% of the proceeds will benefit Our Mother’s Home – a local non-profit organization that supports and empowers teen moms.
